I know I’m breaking a few of my own editing and camera lens rules to post these pics, but they are so important I had to do it.

These shots are of HOPE CITY, a homeless tent city that has formed under the Crawford St. bridge in Providence. I read an article about Hope City and it’s residents in yesterday’s Projo and I felt compelled to bring some food and water down and go talk to the residents myself.

I was welcomed with a handshake the second I stepped into the camp and had a really interesting talk with John Joyce and Roland Colpitts about their situation and what brought them to Hope City. The pair along with the help of the other residents are pushing for legislation that would allow Providence’s homeless to occupy qualifying HUD foreclosed houses that have been unable to sell after many months. A large number of Providence’s homeless are former tradesmen who have skills necessary to refurbish abandoned homes and make them inhabitable. They are now fighting for their chance to prove it. I was also told by John that major companies like Home Depot and Lowes are willing to donate building materials if they can turn their activism into a reality. It is a very heated and complicated debate and I am way too uniformed to give much more information than that, but I wish them the best of luck.
Heres a link to the Projo article and some really good night shots of the camp

Sunset out my front window. Sun was hiding all day but came out on my ride home. Shot this right before it disappeared under the horizon.

Streetlight shot through rain drops on window. 3200 iso

Tree reflection in sunglasses. Spring is comin, gorgeous day today.

Abstract of glass cube window. Eddy St.

Vandalized mural in alley off of Westminster St. It’s in a really weird spot, don’t really know who they thought would see it.

Manhole cover around the corner from me.

Tree branches on my street at twilight.

Really cool art installation on Eddy Street. Part of the PROVIDENCE ART WINDOWS project

Wicklow Golf Club on a Hazy Day. Pretty shitty pic I know, but its hard to make them all winners.

The reason for my trip. What a great wedding. So happy for my good friends. This one breaks the rules a bit for my postings because I did convert it to B&W in PS but o well, color sucks for weddings.

Cliffs off Wicklow coast, taken at dusk with a heavy sea mist.

Róisín runnin up the Murrough in Wicklow through a heavy sea mist. It was really peaceful and eerie at the same time. Really happy we got up early.

Waterfall at Devil’s Glen. Such a nice place for a walk, always try to get out there when I’m over for a visit. Had the camera set on a saturated landscape color profile to bring out the moss color.

Felt like puttin two photos up. St. Patrick’s Day in Wicklow Town. A few thousand people were out. Can’t believe how the population has grown there over the last 10 years. Crazy stuff. Had a really fun time with Róisín, her fam and good friends. Ignore the big bald head that got in my way.
